What We Believe

Jesus once said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.” John 14: 6

The only way we can have eternal life in Heaven, and abundant life here on this earth is to believe in Him. Jesus also said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30

Jesus loves you and wants to become your Savior. It is up to you to accept Him and give Him your life. Jesus said, “…If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…” Revelation 3: 20

It is our prayer that you accept Christ as the Lord of your life. If you want to receive Christ pray, “Jesus, I need you. I realize I’m a sinner, I believe you died on the cross for me and rose from the dead. I repent of my sins and put my faith in you as Savior and Lord. Take control of my life and help me to follow you.” Let us know if you prayed this prayer so that we may help you grow in Christ.

We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Holston Baptist Association. We believe the Bible is God’s Holy Word which gives us a standard to live by. We believe that God has called all Christians to spread the good news of His Son who gives life to those who ask Him, not only in this area, but all over the world. This is why we support many mission efforts through the Cooperative Program as well as other mission endeavors here in this community.

Church Covenant

Last Amended:  January 2024

Having been led as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior: and on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into the covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of his church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions: to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements; and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger. We encourage members to abstain from the sale of and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; and to live soberly and be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feelings and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, and always be ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
